eXtremeFX Gallery - FX Stills
Here are some stills from some of my Special Effects Animations.
I must point out that all of these were done mostly using Lightwave.
I get a lot of emails asking me if I used After Effects.
HOWEVER I must admit that I did NOT USE AFTER EFFECTS.
AFTER EFFECTS is a great tool but I found it lacking in some instances of
real world 3d lighting.

Animation done for a boss of mine who wanted to see what i could do
with LIGHTWAVE 3D.

HOW DID I DO THIS?
I had some of my video partners go out and shoot some video footage of a street near our downtown Library and leave the special FX up to me.

I created a 3D T-rex found an Encyclopedia and scanned the textures and applied it to the T-rex in LIGHTWAVE 3D.

TOOLS USED?
Lightwave3d,
(digital compositing included)
Adobe Premiere for post production,
and Sound Forge.
NO AFTER EFFECTS for compositing, its all done in LIGHTWAVE 3D

This is a Still taken from an animation i did for an internal broadcast presentation for a client.

I had no models for this i had to create them all myself.

All i had to go by is what the client said he saw on a TV intro.

What Fun!

TOOLS USED?
Lightwave3d,
(digital compositing included)
Adobe Premiere for post production,
and Sound Forge.
NO AFTER EFFECTS for compositing, its all done in LIGHTWAVE 3D

Ok...this is an interesting animation where again i use 3D compositing with real world objects.

Again I had some video guys go out and record what ever they wanted and i would do the rest.
As Real as this may seem there were a lot of models that i added to make this appear realistic...
Can you pick out what is real and what is not?....I'll Never Tell.

TOOLS USED?
Lightwave3d,
(digital compositing included)
Adobe Premiere for post production,
and Sound Forge.
NO AFTER EFFECTS for compositing, its all done in LIGHTWAVE 3D

I have only 4 WORDS!

LIGHTWAVE HYPERVOXELS ARE FANTASTIC!!!

Just a close up of some Attack fighter jets taken from an animation i did for a client....if you look close enough you can almost see their company logos on the planes.

The city, ocean, and moon set in the back ground were all part of a enclosed dome effect to produce the world environment.

TOOLS USED?
Lightwave3d,
(digital compositing included)
Adobe Premiere for post production,
and Sound Forge.
NO AFTER EFFECTS for compositing, its all done in LIGHTWAVE 3D

Some of this animation scene is actually a part of ready made model scene that comes with
LIGHTWAVE 3D.

I ONLY ADDED THE SEA MONSTER FOR EFFECTS.
Normally it would be ideal to create all of your own models from scratch however.....when you have a client breathing down your back you'll do what ever it takes to make a deadline. Which is what a lot of young animators have to learn the hard way....
For example after about 2 to 3 days with out sleep you'll come to your senses and realize that in some cases you just have to resort to looking for pre-existing scenes or models that fits exactly what the client is looking for....which was the case for his animation.

This internal presentation was done for a client that was trying talk about the future of their company.

This client asked me to put their logo on a existing Delorian Model that came with Lightwave3d and make it fly back in time.....

Yeah kind of like a movie we've all seen before.

You'll find that as an animator there will be those clients out there that ask you for just about anything....so you have to be prepared

Again i would have loved to have modeled this all my self but that ever haunting deadline was creeping up on me and well....i did not hesitate to use Lightwave3d's existing 3d (clip art) model.

This animation was a real challenge.

I think i had to watch the original movie about 20 times before the client was happy with the end results.

Notice i even got Lightwave to produce the tire skid marks!
I used a plugin called surface effectors to help me with that.

TOOLS USED?
Lightwave3d,
(digital compositing included)
Adobe Premiere for post production,
and Sound Forge.
NO AFTER EFFECTS for compositing, its all done in LIGHTWAVE 3D

Animation done for a client who had no clue how to open their sales ceremony.

So i came up with this idea.
It turns out the client liked it so much she made the video re-edit all their video and title slides using the same effect.

When the animation is complete it spells out Initiatives.

Again i used only LIGHTWAVE 3D and NO AFTER EFFECTS.

The Plugin Lightwave used for this was called Surface Effectors.
