Every 3d artist has his or her spaceships or planets.
Here are just a few still shots of mine that were actually used
in some animations I did for real clients. It was kind of cool to
see these projected up on the big screen of their internal corporate meetings.

LOOK FAMILIAR?
This model i created from scratch NO PRE-MADE 3D MODEL!

I found a tutorial that the Special Effects artists of Star Trek use to make their planets.

What i like about the Star Trek tutorial was that it showed you how to create real planet glow and apply a technique called star fading which makes the stars in the back ground fade as they get closer to the planet.

Pretty realistic! I'll have to produce a larger image someday so that you can see what i mean.

OK....and here are some spaceships I created.

This was a shot from an animation I did for an internal presentation.

Personally I think the lighting is ok....but could be better.

Mars!

Again here is my using the Star Trek Planet technique...

I created this surface of Mars from scratch. I scanned in the surface from an Book about Mars and then added the Star Trek Planet effect.

Pretty Cool.

For positioning I placed some space ships in front of the Red Planet to show a client a general idea of what his short animation feature was going to look like.

This very interesting how i came up with this Y2K Bug Borg idea.

I had a client wanting me to create a Y2K invader in an animation i was doing.

So i came up with this.

Needless to say....the Client WAS IMPRESSED.

ok.....This is a work in progress.

This was taken from a penciled drawing i did as kid....Well i found the old artwork in my moms attic and i said "Hey what would this look like in 3D!"

This is actually part of a whole fleet I've designed. Its just going to take me a while to convert all my art drawings to 3d Movie Models.

Just another still shot of a pencil drawing i converted to 3d animation.

This was part of a Scene Animation that had to be cut from a presentation...

It was a 30 second Y2K bug battle scene....It took me 1 week to story board, edit, create models, and then it TURNED OUT GREAT!

But it was causing the original overall production to run over by 1 minute!...
So we cut it......OH WELL
